Common Dental Fears, Eldersburg Dental Center:
Progressive Family & Cosmetic Dentistry
We are committed to making your smile as healthy and vibrant as it can be so we do our best to alleviate your fear of going to the dentist. Each of our treatment rooms feature a TV for you to watch while you are being serviced in the chair. We have found that this can help by giving patients something else to focus on other than what the dentist or hygienist is doing. If you prefer, we also have a variety of magazines on hand. If you are sensitive to pain or are anxious about your visit, we offer a variety of sedation choices to make our patients as comfortable as possible and keep them relaxed.
In addition to topical and local anesthetic; oral sedation in conjunction with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available for those patients who would like additional sedation. Warm blankets are available upon request.
If there is anything else we can do to make your visit more pleasant, please let us know.
Some common dental fears people have include:
1) Will it hurt to get my teeth cleaned?
2) How long will it take?
3) How much will it cost?
4) How often do I need to go to the dentist?
5) What happens if I get a cavity?
6) What happens if I chip or crack a tooth?
7) Does it hurt to get your teeth whitened?
The answers to these questions are usually based on individual circumstances. Most people do not experience any pain during the regular cleanings and should see a dentist every six months. Please give us a call or stop by and we can answer these questions and any others you may have. Your comfort is important to us.
