Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants take the place of a lost tooth root. Permanent metal screws replace the natural root and secure artificial or fake teeth such as dental crown.

Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or other reasons, and who prefer not to wear dentures.

You may have the option of getting a dental implant if:

  • You are in good general and oral health.
  • You have adequate bone in your jaw to support an implant.
  • Your gum tissues are healthy and free of periodontal disease.

There are several different types of implants available designed to fit an individual’s specific needs. Single-tooth implants are made to replace a single missing tooth. Multiple tooth implants (bridge-supported implants) replace sections of missing teeth.

What Are Mini Dental Implants? Mini implants are a smaller version of regular implants. To be considered a candidate for regular dental implants, you must typically have sufficient bone mass in your jaw. However, tooth loss causes bone loss. Mini implants help you to avoid the need for a bone graft, which can require several months to a year of healing.
